The couple travelled to Italy together for the first time. On this occasion, they began their tradition of spending several months at a time travelling in Europe, often in Italy, where they purchased scores of objects for their collection.
At the beginning of the year the couple travelled to Rome, where they bought furniture, and objets d’art.
After a short stop in Paris, they returned once again to Italy, more precisely Florence, where they began purchasing art from Stefano Bardini.
The couple travelled to Gmunden, Austria, probably to take the waters for Édouard’s health. Similar trips to thermal springs around Europe were a regular occurrence for the Jacquemart-Andrés.
The couple travels to Florence and visits Stefano Bardini’s showroom.
Eight of Jacquemart’s paintings were exhibited by the Red Cross in St Peterburg and the couple attended.
At the end of 1893 the couple set out for Italy, continuing their journey to Egypt, with stops in Cairo, Luxor, and Aswan. On their return to Paris, the couple is called to Berlin, where Édouard falls ill, never to recover.
