Commentaire descriptif :
Calathos: tableau face B
Collection mentionnée : Girgenti , Panettieri (Agrigente, Panettieri)
Interprétation donnée : Two personages crowned with ivy, and holding vases and branches of vines. They may represent Dionysus and Methe, or some other of his female companions. (Peut-être Dionysos et Méthé ou l'une de ses compagnes)
Pages de texte : p. 81-85
Autres indications : [The vase] was found in the vicinity of that city [Girgenti].
It has been published with a very learned and elaborate commentary by M. Steinbüchel, director of the Imperial Collection of Antiquities at Vienna; but his interesting dissertation being in the German language, and very rare; the author wishing to communicate to the English reader a monument of such importance, has inserted in the present collection copies from the engravings of M. Steinbüchel, fullt confident of their accuracy.
