Born 16 November 1816. During the 1860s and 1870s, Andrieu was the official photographer for the French Admiralty and the "Ministère de la Marine et des Colonies" in Paris. In 1868, Andrieu made stereoscopic views of the Near East including Syria, Egypt and Palestine. Andrieu also made views in the Pyrenees region of France, Italy, Switzerland and Spain. In 1869, Andrieu made stereoscopic views of the opening of the Suez Canal in Egypt. In 1869-1870, Andrieu photographed the destruction in Paris during the Franco-Prussian War. He also made views of the Paris Commune in 1871.
